Here at the BOAA we continuously communicate that your safety is our top priority… and we meant it.
Over the last few days, we’ve seen the coronavirus/COVID-19 situation escalate and the Region of Durham Public Health Department has recommended that all large gatherings should be postponed or cancelled. Given the latest developments we have begun the next phase of our preparation for COVID-19. This includes the implementation of the following cancellations which will NOT be running starting March 14th at 10 am until further notice:
- ALL Registered Programs
- ALL Drop-In Programs
- Partnerships & Services (Including: This includes: Laughs & Locks by Teresa, Foot Rejuvination with Amber Marlow, Soul Renewal Foot Care with Natalie Doucet, Reflexology & Indian Head Massage with Sharon Benner and Ignite Your Soul Wellness Spa Services with Mary Pigeau)
- Café
- Scheduled and Drop-In Events
- Volunteering Shifts
- & Wheels-In-Action Transportation
REGISTERED PROGRAMS will be CANCELLED indefinitely for the Winter Session and SCHEDULED EVENTS will be POSTPONED until later in the year when we feel we can safely and responsibly run the event.
The BOAA Office will remain open 8 am to 6 pm during the week and 10 am to 5 pm Saturday/Sunday for:
- RENTAL CONTRACTS
- Purchasing memberships, future event tickets and catch the ace tickets along with registering for future programs at the Front Desk
As of tomorrow, BOAA will remain open but members and guests are discouraged from gathering here. We are currently talking to all of our partners, government officials and other relevant parties however, we want to ensure that you know we will ALWAYS prioritize the safety and health of our members, guests, volunteers, staff, instructors, sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers above all else.
Please have patience as we will be issuing credits, rescheduling appointments, providing updates, and announcing new dates for events as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and support during this time.
We recognize the impact this decision will likely have on our members, but this precaution is necessary to keep people safe. In addition, we know that you may be experiencing heightened levels of worry associated with COVID-19 and it is important to reiterate that Public Health continues to assure us that the risk of becoming ill from COVID-19 in Ontario and in Durham Region currently remains low.
We thank you for your patience and understanding and would like you to be reassured that we will continue to work to keep our staff and the public safe and healthy.
The Region of Durham has launched a website in regards to COVID-19 communications. Updates will be posted to this site: https://www.durham.ca/en/health-and-wellness/novel-coronavirus-update.aspx
