Here at the BOAA we continuously communicate that your safety is our top priority… and we meant it.

Over the last few days, we’ve seen the coronavirus/COVID-19 situation escalate and the Region of Durham Public Health Department has recommended that all large gatherings should be postponed or cancelled. Given the latest developments we have begun the next phase of our preparation for COVID-19. This includes the implementation of the following cancellations which will NOT be running starting March 14th at 10 am until further notice:

  • ALL Registered Programs
  • ALL Drop-In Programs
  • Partnerships & Services (Including: This includes: Laughs & Locks by Teresa, Foot Rejuvination with Amber Marlow, Soul Renewal Foot Care with Natalie Doucet, Reflexology & Indian Head Massage with Sharon Benner and Ignite Your Soul Wellness Spa Services with Mary Pigeau)
  • Café
  • Scheduled and Drop-In Events
  • Volunteering Shifts
  • & Wheels-In-Action Transportation

REGISTERED PROGRAMS will be CANCELLED indefinitely for the Winter Session and SCHEDULED EVENTS will be POSTPONED until later in the year when we feel we can safely and responsibly run the event.

The BOAA Office will remain open 8 am to 6 pm during the week and 10 am to 5 pm Saturday/Sunday for:

  • Purchasing memberships, future event tickets and catch the ace tickets along with registering for future programs at the Front Desk

As of tomorrow, BOAA will remain open but members and guests are discouraged from gathering here. We are currently talking to all of our partners, government officials and other relevant parties however, we want to ensure that you know we will ALWAYS prioritize the safety and health of our members, guests, volunteers, staff, instructors, sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers above all else.

Please have patience as we will be issuing credits, rescheduling appointments, providing updates, and announcing new dates for events as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and support during this time.

We recognize the impact this decision will likely have on our members, but this precaution is necessary to keep people safe. In addition, we know that you may be experiencing heightened levels of worry associated with COVID-19 and it is important to reiterate that Public Health continues to assure us that the risk of becoming ill from COVID-19 in Ontario and in Durham Region currently remains low.

We thank you for your patience and understanding and would like you to be reassured that we will continue to work to keep our staff and the public safe and healthy.

The Region of Durham has launched a website in regards to COVID-19 communications. Updates will be posted to this site: https://www.durham.ca/en/health-and-wellness/novel-coronavirus-update.aspx

Good morning. This is Steve Graham, contact for the Odd Fellows and Encampment Lodges. I was curious if your list of cancellations above would include your regular rentals. Do you want people there, have us not meet for a while?
Just curious, as we have a meeting next Thursday.
    Many thanks,

In these extraordinary times, we are committed to continuing to provide exceptional older adult programming, services and events to our members safely. We are an organization that’s always done things a little differently… although it might not be what was always done, we are thrilled to announce
our reopening plan for our gradual re-opening starting in the Fall of 2020. Our organization is implementing important new measures to safeguard our members, staff and volunteers in order to make participating at the BOAA enjoyable.

Like many businesses and organizations, we’ve had to work incredibly fast with extreme flexibility to respond to the impacts of COVID-19 and to reflect ongoing government mandates. In response, on Monday September 14 th we will be safely reopening the doors to the BOAA with LIMITED ACCESS
available for members and guests. Pre-registration for indoor and outdoor programs and events is required.
1. Stay home if you are sick
2. A signed admission checklist that includes a temperature check will be required
3. Masks are required at all times within the building
4. All participants must remain six feet apart when possible
5. Please wash your hands frequently
6. Maximum 50 persons inside the building (we will be starting with much less)
7. Please use hand sanitizer frequently
8. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth
1. Updated Office Hours – Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm
2. Our team will be following social distancing protocols and our floors will have distancing guidelines
3. Our team will still be smiling (as always) but they’ll be wearing masks
4. We are encouraging the use of tap & chip debit or credit cards at this time
5. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building

We will continue to monitor the situation, doing our best to make the right decisions for our members, our team and our community. What is important for all to remember is that this will only be possible if we are COVID FREE and able to meet all Federal, Provincial, Regional & Municipal guidelines. Updates should always be expected and all planning is tentative.

We are honoured to be a part of your lives and look forward to our gradual reopening. Please follow us on our Facebook page to stay informed:  https://facebook.com/BowmanvilleOA
