Walkin For Wheels is raising money for our Wheels In Action program. Wheels In Action is an indispensable service that offers accessible and affordable transportation for our members.
In 2023, we provided nearly 5000 rides to over 120 members. Our total rides are projected to grow 30% in 2024.
Due to increasing demand, we are raising money to support Wheels in Action with the addition of a new vehicle to our fleet. Our goal is to add a 2024 Toyota Rav4, which has improved fuel efficiency and easier maintenance. We need to raise $36,000 for this new vehicle.
Walkin’ For Wheels is more than just a vehicle, we are supporting the active living of older adults in the community.
Through Wheels in Action, we enhance accessibility to the health-promoting programs and services provided by our Centre. Our services and programs promote healthy living, social engagement and lifelong learning. The BOAA is a leader in creating an age-friendly community in Bowmanville with services that help older adults live safely, enjoy good health and stay involved.
